Berlin is so immense that it deserved its own section. We spent three days and four nights in a nice little rental apartment in what used to be East Berlin where I indulged in some German-dubbed Star Trek before bed each night - pretty awesome. Berlin is so immense that it deserved its own section. We spent three days and four nights in a nice little rental apartment in what used to be East Berlin where I indulged in some German-dubbed Star Trek before bed each night - pretty awesome. Summing up Germany's largest city is difficult - but I can say that the longer we stayed, the more comfortable we were with the layout of the city and its people. It was an easy place for Americans to blend naturally, especially since most every German, even the homeless guys who asked me for change, speak English.

Each gallery shows a little something different from the trip - and there is plenty we didn't see. It's a sprawling city with no particular center downtown, no skyscrapers or tall buildings, save the TV tower and part of Potzdammer Platz. It was comfortable, affordable, and after we got used to the graffiti, one could almost describe it as affable and charming. I enjoyed it immensely.
